Baltimore Selected to Host 2013 Conference

The conference participants witnessed an intensive lobbying all week among the four cities desiring to host the 2013 DSA conference.  On the last day of the conference, representatives from each of the four competing cities—San Francisco, Houston, Baltimore, and New York City—had a chance to impress the audience with their five-minute presentation.  Baltimore came out ahead with a total of 345 votes, defeating New York with 116 votes and Houston (91 votes) and San Francisco (28 votes).

Chicago will be hosting the 2011 conference in late August and early September.  Chair Pamela Wojick announced that a total of 626 tickets were sold at the special conference price during the week.

All in all, it was another great conference, and Bill Moran and his committee is to be complimented for turning out an excellent program.  A notable sight at the conference was the increased number of scooters—estimated to be at least 25—scurrying around at the conference site—an excellent example of the accessibility afforded to the conference participants.

Watch out for more interesting tidbits in the next issue of the New Horizons.  Those not attending the conference can always have the opportunity to renew their membership.  Just look into the membership page for the information on membership.
